Beautiful park with plenty of parking spaces, I really enjoyed walking around and taking a look at the different areas: the Marshland, the beach it was really pretty. They had a visitor center at wasn't open when I was there.
Nice beach, it is a little rocky in spots. There are public restrooms on both sides of the beach. If you stay on the side of the beach with a small steam closer to Giants Neck Rd, the beach is flatter and there are some shallow sheltered waters that younger kids can play in.
If you're a distance runner Rocky Neck State Park makes an outstanding base to do long runs out of. A few years ago the Mystic places Marathon took place. This was one of the best courses for running a marathon. Outstanding views fairly flat course excellent weather. You can do your long runs over parts of the course. You can start and finish your run from Rocky Neck State Park.
Very nice area for our off-season visit; beautiful beach with super soft sand. Too bad there was no swimming because of high bacteria. It was low tide which made a lot of sandbars visible--- I was still able to walk barefoot through the water. Very peaceful
Nice beach. Rocks and jetty to climb on. Can get pretty crowded on weekends. Trails, camping, bbq. $13 entrance fee for CT residents, $23 non residents. Crabbing on jetty.
