I really like this place. The service can be hit or miss depending on how crazy it is inside, but they have a nice patio in a scenic section of Niantic, good drinks, great food, and usually I am not disappointed. Be warned that it is a bit pricey especially for Irish food, but it is good nonetheless and I haven't had more than one bad experience (due to it being extremely busy) and I've been here MULTIPLE times. I even walked out of the restaurant next door after having the worst dining experience of my life, went across the street, and ordered some REAL food that didn't disappoint me whatsoever. Great little place and you feel like you're at home as soon as you enter. Good for a night out with friends , and especially dates considering the boardwalk is right there.
This is such a pleasant location! I dropped in for a quick drink and the bartender was overwhelmingly pleasant! Plus she tweaked the drink (a hot toddy) a little and made it taste WAY better than it normall would. The restrooms are okay; they're always clean when I use them. The atmosphere is very warm and casual. This is definitely a "local" bar (and I love that!)
I enjoyed The Black Sheep and if you are looking for a young and trendy bar, this is the place. The weekends have a ton of people and more often than not live music. The beer was a little on the higher priced side but for the experience definitely worth it. Service has been pretty excellent so far, I think they are well staffed and have employees that enjoy their job. So far I would say this is the best bar around.
I honestly don't know how this place has so may positive reviews. The inside is nice and it's near the water but that's pretty much it. The menus were old and falling apart. Waitresses seemed frazzled even though the restaurant was less than half full. Other than taking our order and delivering our food and bill, the waitress made no appearances at our table. She actually commented how there was no room on the table while delivering our entrees, but didn't bus away any dirty plates? Food was super expensive and not good. Buffalo wings had no buffalo sauce, fries were bland and probably out of a bag, my steak sandwich was ok but the size of a slider (for $15, I expect a normal sized sandwich), burger was nothing special. Would not come here again.
Excellent food, decent price, great staff. Multiple visits with no change in quality. $10-15 lunch is worth it. Seating outside is nice and typically there is a nice breeze. Of the restaurants in the immediate area, this is the best. AND there's a bakery down the street one block for desert!!
